トルクメンは古くは騎馬遊牧民族として知られ、今はイラン北東部やトルクメニスタンに跨りながら定住している民族です。絨毯にはギュルと呼ばれる紋章を用いる事と、赤いラグを多く作る事が特徴です。ウールを使った柔らかく軽いラグは現代的なリビングなどに合い易く、近年人気が高くなっています。

Turkmen was formerly known as the Eurasian nomads, and is now a settled people straddling northeastern Iran and Turkmenistan. The carpet is characterized by using a coat of arms called Guru and making many red rugs. Soft and light rugs made of wool are easy to fit in modern living rooms and have become popular in recent years.
